This class is incredible! A MUST for anyone looking to level up your picture book! After taking this class I will never read a picture book or listen to music in the same way! The pairing of these two was a brilliant stroke of genius and a owe a big fat thank you to Ebony for sharing her insights through this amazing class!

Through Ebony's method of studying voice, you'll be able to appreciate hip-hop for what it is: a mastery of craft. From literary devices to dialogue, to the choices between a pause and a stop, a rhyme or a beat drop... every choice counts. And this course teaches you every tool you need to inform those choices + level up your picture book voice. I can't recommend Ebony's classes enough!

I cannot recommend this course enough. Not only can it help you level up your voice, it also gives you the tools to see your story with fresh eyes. I've taken a lot of craft courses in my nearly 3-year writing career, and this course (and Ebony's courses in general) are the first I've take that go beyond beginner advice and show developing writers how to elevate their craft. As a person who aspires to be a full-time writer, I can say with confidence that taking this course has helped me to know how to revise more intentionally and to make my manuscripts even stronger. 12/10 would recommend!

I can’t even begin to describe how cool this course is. The connection between hip hop music and picture books was already so clear to me, but listening to Ebony really dive into the text, the rhythm, the meter, and the poetic devices used in both mediums was truly mind-blowing. Not to mention is was SO FUN, like a virtual happy hour with fellow kidlit creators! If you are on the fence about this course, DO IT…you won’t regret it!
